An independent authoritative requires an Archive Assistant to join their team in Warrington.

This independent national agency investigates complaints fairly and throughly.
This company has the power to initiate,carry out and oversee investigations. It is also responsible for monitoring the way complaints are handled.

Main duties include:
-Access material and put together brief summaries of the content of it.
-Carry out datable checks to ensure there is no duplication of datable.
-Assist with the general management of the collections.
- Assist with research into the collections.
-To ensure the integrity of the historic archive collections are maintained.
- Records are made available to the investigation team by locating, retrieving and reshelving records in a timely and accurate manner.
-To undertake research into the catalogues to assist in the location of archive material, in order to support the investigation team, where required.
- To ensure at all times that information contained within the collections is managed lawfully under the terms of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts.
- To safeguard information and ensure it is not released unlawfully or restricted unnecessarily.
- To assist with general clerical duties, including record keeping and maintaining audit trails, and providing copies of original archive material to the investigation team, where required.
- To assist with the preservation of the historic archive collections by undertaking regular environmental monitoring and ensuring that archive material is handled appropriately at all times.
- To assist with box listing, to agreed standards, as required.
- To work cooperatively, communicate and consult with appropriate colleagues within the organization in order to maintain effective working relationships.
- All duties and responsibilities should be carried out in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
- Any other relevant duties appropriate to the grade as may be required.

Essential criteria:
- Experience of working with archive material, including handling, document supervision and document production.
- Experience and understanding of archive cataloguing standards and principles, including ISAD(G).
- Ability to retrieve detailed information from sources accurately.
- Experience of working with information within a Data Protection and Freedom of Information environment.
- Experience of working with discretion, confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Experience of working to tight deadlines and adjusting working practices accordingly.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and procedures in relation to collections management.
- Proven experience of working effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience of having worked with multiple time demands and deadlines, exercising judgement on time management.
