Headquartered in Broxburn, our client has a long and proud history as a quality driven producer of meat products.  Their client list is extensive and covers wholesale and well known supermarket multipliers.  A recent change in ownership and management, means they are in the process of changing their culture and business in Scotland.  To help facilitate this they now need to make the key hire of a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer.  As it stands this is a Day Shift permanent role Mon-Fri.

Reporting into the Maintenance Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for site maintenance and process efficiency, providing a suitable environment in which to fulfil customer requirements effectively in line with the Company’s objective to be the Number one in Scotch Beef. This will involve working as part of a highly motivated and skilled Engineering team who are capable of providing effective, preventative and reactive maintenance.  Other core responsibilities will include:


Work closely with the Engineering Manager to maintain the factory and all installations to the highest standard and develop machinery ownership with operators.
Ensure all equipment and pre start checks are completed daily before Production commences as per maintenance procedures and liaise immediately with relevant managers highlighting issues discovered.
Diagnose faults with equipment when requested, constantly keeping the department’s management up to date with progress and timescales.  Implement a robust preventative maintenance schedule.  Always investigate breakdowns to their root cause to prevent a reoccurrence. 
Assist in maintaining secure, robust stock management of all tools, parts and consumables’, ensuring adequate stock is on hand/available at all times.
Design cost-effective modifications to help improve safety, reliability and throughput.  Consider lean principles when looking at process flow and aim to minimise waste throughout the factory.
Participate in various projects relating to the purchasing of new machinery, improved operations or new processes and produce cost benefits analysis considering implications such as cost, safety and time constraints.  

Educated to HNC/HND or time served, you are a proven Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Technician.  We are open to candidates from a range of industry sectors, but this is more likely best suited to candidates from high volume manufacturing backgrounds, or those with previous food and drink or FMCG manufacturing experience.  Candidates will have some appreciation of both mechanical and electrical maintenance, and be used to working and resolving maintenance issues in a really fast paced environment.


Candidates should note that this role is Monday to Friday, and you will need to occasionally be on call as part of a rota.  Your base salary of c£28-30k is supplemented by paid overtime on weekends and other benefits.  This is a chance to join a secure and profitable business, offering good long term career opportunities and stability.
