The Northern Inclusion Consortium (NIC) has been successful in securing European Social Fund and Big Lottery monies to deliver the Building Better Opportunities programme across the Tyne and Wear Area. Moving on Tyne and Wear and will support approximately 1,620 people living in the Tyne and Wear area, experiencing a range of complex needs, to make a lasting and positive change and to move, in time, into training and employment.

The Role
Acting as a liaison between DISC and it’s social enterprise, More Time, you will be responsible for supporting the development of social enterprise activity within the Moving on Tyne & Wear service and for recruiting, training, managing and deploying Social Enterprise volunteers to create self-sustaining opportunities.

Main duties and responsibilities:

* Act as a liaison between DISC and More Time to support the development of its social enterprise activities
* Generate new business opportunities for DISC’s social enterprise, More Time, to enable Moving on Tyne & Wear participants to progress into employment and training opportunities
* Conduct focus groups with participants to identify skills and knowledge base that can support the development of social enterprise opportunities
* Identify training that can support the development of social enterprise activities
* Support participants to produce business plans that will become working documents
* Effectively oversee budgets to ensure social enterprise activities are financially viable
* Liaise with Navigators to identify appropriate participants to support into social enterprise opportunities
* Generate funding to support development of social enterprise activities
* Promote all social enterprise activities within Moving on Tyne & Wear and the wider community
* Carry out networking to raise awareness of the social benefits the social enterprise brings within the community
* Support the social enterprise to generate business opportunities
* Work in partnership with More Time to identify suitable volunteer opportunities
* Process volunteer applications and contact all volunteers in a timely manner
* Carry out volunteer inductions and be responsible for the storing and maintaining volunteer paperwork

The Candidate
To be considered for the Social Enterprise Co-ordinator position, you will have the following experience, skills and attributes

* Previous experience organising and running events
* Excellent communication skills including the ability to inform, influence, motivate, present and undertake effective reports/presentations.
* Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage complex tasks from start to finish
* Understanding of health and safety issues and the ability to implement procedures to ensure compliance
* Commitment to equality and diversity
* Understanding of the issues faced by people with long term health conditions
* Innovative approach to promoting social enterprise
* Experience of managing a team of volunteers
* Entrepreneurial with an ability to drive a culture of innovation and work in a solution focussed manner
* Experience of establishing effective and professional relationships with customers and colleagues
* Previous experience of successful business development activity including compiling tenders and quotes for submission
