Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Teaching Assistant - Special Needs School

I am looking to recruit several SEN learning support assistants to work within a Special Needs School in Stockport. This school caters for children between 3 and 16 years old, with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties as well as a multi-sensory impairment.

As a learning support assistant you will be working on a 1-1 and small group basis with the students, supporting them in a number of subjects throughout the day. Subjects include art, media and horticulture.They have access to hydrotherapy swimming pools, sensory gardens and other specialist facilities. The role is to help promote independence and communication skills. Previous experience of supporting learning with children who have similar needs is essential.

All roles are full time and temporary to permanent.

The successful learning support assistant will ideally:

- Be enthusiastic, driven and conscientious
- Have previous experience working with children or young adults with Learning Difficulties.
- Have awareness or experience using PECS, basic sign language or Makaton.
- Be comfortable with personal care as you would be expected to assist with feeding, washing and toileting for pupils of all ages.
- Excellent communication skills
- Hold a current DBS or be willing to apply for a new one through Prospero Teaching

A registration process will need to be followed before starting the role, therefore you must be able to provide two references demonstrating the above skills.
