We are currently recruiting for a Team Manager to join a busy Special Educational Needs Team in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

The successful applicant will lead a team which includes a Senior Practitioner, SEN Keyworkers and Case Officers in regard to the management of complex caseloads. You will be responsible for ensuring all relevant legislation and guidance is adhered to in the execution of casework, and for developing and maintaining good practice standards. You will provide robust and accurate advice and guidance on complex casework.

Main duties:
Ensure that casework is legally compliant whilst remaining child centred, pro-active and responsive to the needs of children and young people and paying due regard to the views of parents
Proactively keep up to date with SEND legislations and guidance and be able to identify and understand the key changes required to processes to fulfil the legislation and related guidance
Manage relationships with families, head teachers and SENCOs, inclusion staff, social workers, health and other relevant agencies effectively to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people under the relevant circumstances
Develop, consolidate and improve an area of specialism related and relevant to the current SEN context for the benefit of the service
Respond appropriately to issues that require a variety of approaches based on analytical thinking and the ability to make sound judgements based on relevant evidence
Share sensitive information in a professional manner with partner agencies in order to manage risks and promote welfare in line with the requirements of all relevant legislation

Essential skills and experience needed:
Enhanced knowledge, skills and understanding in a significant area related to SEN and relevant Education legislation is highly desirable; the ability to develop this rapidly and effectively if not is essential
A good knowledge and understanding of the key legislative frameworks relating to the provision of SEND services to children and young people (Children and Families Act 2014, Education Act 1996, SEN(D) Codes of Practice), and their application to effective casework
A good working knowledge of other relevant legislative frameworks such as the Care Act and safeguarding legislation and their relevance to and impact on SEND legislation
Successful staff and casework management experience within an SEND, education or other related Local Authority service is essential; experience of this within a statutory framework or service is highly desirable
Successful experience of developing constructive and positive relationships and working collaboratively with Local Authority colleagues, head teachers, SENCOs, children, young people and their parents, and other stakeholders
Ability to manage and balance priorities to deliver to a high standard and within timescales

Job Requirements:
Must be Social Work Qualified with a valid HCPC registration
An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
Must have a minimum of 5 years recent experience working within an SEN Team, 2 of which must be within a management role
