A brilliant new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Practitioner to join an Assessment and Intervention Team in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

The candidate will have demonstrable experience of frontline social work across intake and child protection teams and have a proven track record of managing a high workload of complex cases of a CP nature and court proceedings.

Main duties:
To deliver an efficient and effective leaving care service to young people that supports the outcomes of Care Matters and related national and local priorities and policy objectives
To work alongside the Children Looked After Service in the delivery of effective planning, preparation and transitional arrangements for young people leaving care
To work in partnership the corporate parenting network and local services to offer clear pathways and access to a range of universal, specialist and targeted services
To develop robust support packages for vulnerable young people including the provision of safeguards to prevent young people from falling between services
To assist young people to develop the skills to advocate and negotiate for their needs with wider services and agencies
Complete allocated tasks within time scales, ensuring that the statutory requirements are met in respect of the health and education of all children and young people for whom you have case responsibility

Essential skills and experience needed:
Knowledge of leaving care service provision and practice, of current thinking and developments in children’s services, care issues and practices
Communicates effectively - both verbally and in writing (can communicate to a wide range of people clearly and simply)
Ability to collect and analyse assessment information and formulate appropriate courses of action
Experience of working within a framework of policies and procedures, and a sound grasp of the importance of such structures for the accountability of services for children and young people

Job requirements:
Must be Social Work Qualified with a valid HCPC registration
An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
Must have a minimum of 4 years recent qualified experience working within Frontline Children’s Services, 2 of which must be within a Senior role
