We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Structural Engineer to join a leading consultancy which is part of a fast growing organisation.

Job Summary

To set up and manage the new structural engineering department. This role will work with the multi-discipline architectural, engineering and environmental teams to deliver the full RIBA plan of work stages to clients from concept to in use. Projects are varied and include large complex commercial buildings as well residential and modular builds.

Main Duties

• Be responsible for the production of Structural Engineering
calculations and designs on a range of projects from £2m upwards in
value.
• Production of reports, structural designs and drawings.
• Possess a broad range of engineering skills and be able to work to both
British Standards and Eurocodes with all common materials.
• Be comfortable undertaking hand calculations and spreadsheets as
standard but also be able to demonstrate the ability to use the latest
3D modelling design software packages in both concrete and
steelwork.
• Ensure work output conforms to specifications and Standard/Code
requirements.
• Overseeing project budget and timescale delivery.
• Managing the Structural Engineering function.
• Liaising with internal and external clients.
• Developing and mentoring the Structural team.
• Co-ordination of the design proposals with other disciplines.

Qualifications/ Experience

• Bachelor’s degree BEng / BSc or Master’s degree MEng / MSc that
meets the engineering academic requirements for chartership.
• Chartered engineer (MICE/ IStructE)and member of a relevant
professional body, or equivalent level of experience.
• 5 years post chartered experience.
• Experience in education and healthcare buildings is desirable.
• Experience on builds in excess of £2m
• A proven track record in managing and developing a small team of
structural professionals.
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations
• Skilled in the use of design and modelling software such as Robot
(simulation analysis software), Etabs (integrated analysis, design and
drafting software), Rhino etc.
• Use of AutoCAD Revit structural.
