A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Social Worker to join a No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) Service in the London Borough of Lambeth.

Main duties:
Working with service users who are subject to immigration control and are not eligible for benefits
Carry out assessments and reviews of children and families and adults with disabilities who are subject to immigration control and therefore are excluded from accessing public funds and homelessness support
To undertake eligibility assessments for potential NRPF cases referred to the Council for support
Able to undertake detailed Human Rights Assessments on a regular basis and complete FACE Overview Community Care Assessments as required
Work with Young People who were formerly looked after by a local authority, for example, because they were an unaccompanied asylum seeking child (UASC), or other separated migrant child
Supporting adults with a disabilities, illnesses or mental health condition/s
To undertake regular reviews of existing cases in line with the department’s policy and procedures, ensuring that all clients supported continue to be eligible for support and to provide assistance and guidance to clients on immigration issues
To assist the NRPF Network in providing information and advice services to organisations to give informed advice on welfare rights issues and benefit entitlements relating to this client group

Essential skills and experience needed:
Knowledge of European Convention on Human Rights and experience in carrying out Human Rights Assessment
Knowledge of Care Act 2014 and experience in carrying out needs assessment for vulnerable adults
Knowledge of Mental Health Act and ability to work with care coordinators and health professionals
Knowledge of Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 – Broad understanding immigration rules/Home Office guidance
Ability to work in multi-agency environment and ability to use information shared by other professionals in social work assessments

Job Requirements:
All applicants must be Social Work Qualified with a valid HCPC registration
Must have a minimum of 2 years recent qualified experience working within the same or similar role in a Local Authority
An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
