Do you have experience working with children and young people? Are you a driver? Do you have passion and drive to make a difference to the lives of those who most need your support? Then read on, as this position could be the next step in your career.

We are looking for a community youth worker to work with children and young people who have left care in the Rotherham area. Care leavers are usually aged between 16 - 21 and living in their own tenancy with additional support from their community youth workers. As a youth worker, you would be responsible for helping these young people learn valuable life skills and empower them to overcome the challenges they will face living independently. You will provide support, guidance and advice to these young people in all areas of daily life e.g. budgeting, personal safety, managing their accommodation with the view they will eventually be able to live without additional support.

As a community youth worker, you will work in various areas across Rotherham, travelling from tenant to tenant to help them with what they need and you will be lone-working, so you must be confident with this. This is a 24/7 job, so you must be a fully flexible worker who can commit to working days, sleep ins, weekends and sometimes being on-call in case of an emergency. While the hours are demanding, the rewards of youth work vastly outweigh this, but you need to be passionate to succeed. A full time contract usually consists of 40 hours.

What do you need to apply?

* Experience of working with children and young people (6 months full time, minimum)
* A relevant qualification for working in social care
* Access to your own car and a full, clean driving license

What does the position offer you?

* A salary up to £17,326 per annum dependent on your experience
* A chance to change the lives of young people in your community
* Independence to work effectively with your clients as a lone-working youth worker
* Opportunities for development and progression within a national organisation
* Immediate interviews and a quick start (ideally week commencing 31st July if possible, though we are flexible)
* Competitive holidays and benefits
