Role Overview

Purpose:

Responsible to support the DOSM to lead the Sales efforts for the property through the development and execution of the Sales & Marketing plan with the aim of maximising revenue development from all market segments.

To assist in motivating the Sales Team, coordinating their efforts so that they are effective ambassadors and reach set targets.

To maximize revenue development from the Corporate, Entertainment, Group and the Leisure Markets via a structured sales approach as per the Sales & Marketing plan.

Main Duties:

Manage:

•To oversee the sales account management system and ensure the team makes effective use of the system.

•Regularly review to monitor individual performance.

•To define and target markets to be solicited utilising data contained in the Opera/JBI system and develop an appropriate sales solicitation strategy for both domestic and international markets for corporate, leisure, entertainment extended and long stays segments.

•To provide feedback and counsel to the Director of Sales &

Marketing on all Sales-related activities.

•With the Director of Sales & Marketing conduct regular department communication meetings involving the Sales & Marketing team to ensure effective communication takes place for both day to day and strategic issues.

•To ensure that all Sales & Marketing colleagues have the product knowledge and tools with which to do their job effectively.

Sales Duties:

•To achieve and exceed budgeted target in controllable rooms revenue and RGI.

•To develop and drive new/existing business across all segments in North & South America.

•Manage and develop Entertainment segment and niche

Concierge/lifestyle agencies across all markets.

•With the Director of Sales & Marketing develop and implement a well-defined and focused Sales Plan with specific activities for each market.

•To establish and maintain active working relationships with selected key accounts via individual account management sales plans.

•To co-ordinate and attend specific industry events and trade shows.

•To initiate and escort targeted client familiarisation trips.

•To develop and execute sales programmes with travel partners and clients, aimed at increasing market awareness and room night targets.

•To assist with product training to relevant agents.

•To maintain strong working relationships within all GSOs, ensuring prompt, informative replies to enquiries, quality lead generation and to provide thorough details on qualified accounts.

•To keep abreast of, and report on, market trends, competitor activities and client feedback in month end reports.

•To effectively manage existing accounts for the hotels. This involves potential needs analysis, determining strategies and revenue targets, relationship building, brick walling activities, monitoring performance and rate negotiation.

•To co-ordinate and attend specific industry events and trade shows, representing the hotels and keep a high profile in the marketplace.

•To initiate and escort targeted client familiarization trips and organize regular entertainment functions with new and exciting clients.

•Ensure hotels participation in all major relevant RFP’s through the hotels RFP system Lanyon.

•To manage VIP reservations process, be available to handle requests by telephone, e-mail or other channels outside normal business hours, and respond efficiently and in a timely manner as expected by clients. Liaise with reservations and revenue management teams to ensure that rates quoted are in line with current rate selling strategy and booking confirmations are executed. Solicit guest preference information and advise to guest relations and that method of guarantee and payment is secured in line with credit policies.

Administration

•To effectively use all sales and marketing systems to maximise business potential and ensure that data input is conducted in line with standards, for systems such as (but not limited to), Salesforce, Opera, JBI etc.

•Submit on timely basis, activity, production and other reports as requested by Director of Sales and Marketing.

•To ensure all client correspondence, written or verbal, is conducted in timely manner and in a professional fashion in line with standards.

•To provide market feedback and intelligent to sales and marketing team leadership and work Director of Sales and Marketing in formulating sales and marketing strategy for assigned markets.

Other Duties

•To assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety and development.

•To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times.

•To provide a friendly, courteous and professional service at all times.

•To assist in the training of employees ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform their duties with the maximum efficiency and in the most productive manner.

•To ensure that the correct standards and methods of service are maintained as stated in the Hotel and Department Operations Manuals.

•To ensure that the Department's operational budget is strictly adhered to and that all costs are controlled and expenditure approved.

•To have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and

regulations and in particular the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.

To respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the needs of the industry, company or hotel operation.

To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs.

To attend training and meetings as required.

To contribute to regular departmental communications meetings.
