Carry out mechanical evaluation of products Appliances and their associated components, assemblies and systems. Provide assistance/support to design and development engineers throughout the process of designing, testing and developing the products.£22-25,000 would ideally be looking for someone who has lab experience and would be looking to progress within a lab environment. Graduates would be considered as long as they have relatable experience.

Qualifications:

·5 GCSE’s - Maths and English Grade C or above

·HNC / HND in Engineering related discipline

Key Responsibilities:

·Evaluate products, components and systems, from concept to production, to relevant standards, using appropriate and recognised tools and methods.

·Carry out on the spot assessments of any problems and failures encountered during testing, applying a proactive approach in finding countermeasures to any problem or issue resulting in the failure of a test or development.

·Critique and evaluate designs and proposals, participate in peer reviews and meetings with engineers and other departments.

·Arrange, prepare and maintain control documentation; including test reports, evaluation plans and engineering changes. Identify and propose improvements to documentation, workflows and processes.

·Liaise with other teams, departments, customers and suppliers (internal and external); providing technical support and communication of activities, requirements and issues.

·Adhere to applicable regulations, company policies and quality systems.

·Maintain tools, equipment and the laboratory environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

·Ideally have more than 3 years’ experience working within a design laboratory environment, being able to demonstrate a good understanding of engineering evaluation, design and development processes.

·Good working knowledge of Office software (Excel, Word, powerpoint are essential, Microsoft project is desirable).

·The ability to write reports, methodically evaluate products / components and to analyse and interpret complex technical data is essential.

·Knowledge of a 3D CAD package and read 2D drawings is desirable but not essential.

·Previous experience of temperature measurement and testing would be desirable.

·Working knowledge of equipment and tools such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons and hand tools is essential.

·Should have a good grasp of engineering and design principles to facilitate strong problem-solving skills and have a keen eye for detail. A creative and logical approach for generating new ideas and solutions will be required.

·Must be an effective team player with a flexible attitude and good communication and organisational skills.

·Self-starting with good initiative and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to tasks, with a view to developing own ideas and solutions whilst working with minimal supervision.

·Must be able to adapt easily with a rapidly changing business environment.

·This role will involve some physical manual handling.
