Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

About the role
The Alzheimer`s Society Dementia Support service involves dedicated members of staff giving one to one support, information and guidance to people with dementia or their carers and wider family or friends, to help people understand dementia, cope with day to day living with dementia and prepare for the future.

As the Dementia Support Manager you will maintain and manage a caseload of clients with dementia or who are affected by dementia; providing support by helping them to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. We want you to help raise public awareness about dementia and the way it affects families and individuals. Also identify areas of need and service development for people affected by dementia, working with other organisations to maximise the availability of local resources.

A large part of your role involves managing a team of experienced and highly skilled Dementia Support Workers, Dementia Advisers and Volunteers; this includes recruitment, development and performance management of the dedicated workers operating within the service. You will need to be able to support them in their demanding roles, whilst ensuring we offer the highest standards of service.

About you
To be successful in this role you will need to be a well-motivated, resourceful and creative person, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a busy service environment. You will have demonstrable experience of managing a team and you will be comfortable working collaboratively and liaising across departments and with partner organisations. Ideally you will possess an in depth understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers as well as qualifications at NVQ level 3 or above (or equivalent). Experience of working in the voluntary sector or a care setting is desirable.

Are you someone who can make things happen? Who knows how to get the best out of people? If this sounds like you we can offer you a stimulating and challenging career as part of our growing services team.
