I have an opportunity for a Lead Occupational Therapist, the service is a locked rehabilitation hospital for men and women with mental health issues 18 years+. Patients have been detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) with a diagnosis of mental illness.

You will need to be HCPC Registered in order to apply for this role.

• Working as an active and collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team in providing structured and recovery focussed care and treatment
• Providing individualised occupational therapy assessment and treatment for patients to enable them to achieve their maximum level of occupational performance and enhance their sense of well-being through engagement in occupation
• Working collaboratively with service users and the team to develop, review and evaluate individualised care plans
• Implementation of the agreed care and rehabilitation programmes
• Being aware of Safeguarding Children and venerable adult policies and ensuring all Safeguarding issues are documented and raised
• Delivering a range of skilled evidence based interventions that support service user recovery, both individually and in groups
• Demonstrating knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and other applicable legislative frameworks
• Promoting the use of specialist assessments using occupational therapy skills.
• Collaboratively developing risk management plans that support the service user’s safety whilst on the ward
• Providing health promotion and enable people to manage their own health
• Promoting the use of specialist assessment tools
• Undertaking assessment of carers needs and support where required
• Ability to respond to and participate in emergency and planned PMVA situations

• Practice placement experience of working in mental health settings and hold current state registration (essential)
• Experience in a similar role (desirable)
• A clean driving license (essential) and ability to travel
• To demonstrate flexibility

• Relevant professional OT qualification
• Current HCPC registration

Competitive salary dependent on experience
