Sales Manager - Manufacturing

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Sales Manager within this Engineering company in the Reading area.

You will focus on identifying and developing sales growth from an established client base, working in closely with the managing director, you will be a driving force behind sales strategies adopted by the company to achieve business growth, and the New Business Manager to provide sales office support to the estimating and quotation process.
Key duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Creating a clear structured and quantifiable growth plan, by setting targets and specifying the actions and resources needed.
• Leading a developing a sales team of 2 people.
• Developing a plan and process to qualify leads quickly and ensuring quotes are raised in appropriate timescale and cost maximising company benefits.
• Helping to clarify operational and technical issues arising from enquiries and orders and working closely with manufacturing to ensure optimal solutions are proposed.
• Monitoring potential threats to company revenue and devising policies to overcome them.

The ideal candidate will possess an HNC/D in Mechanical Engineering or a time-served Apprenticeship, together with an experienced background in sales, and sales management experience in sheet metal or associated industry.
Most important characteristics are:
• Supervisory and Management skills: ensure customers quoted quickly and orders raised quickly.
• Ability to manage and develop existing customers (i.e. a farmer, not a hunter).
• Good commercial understanding to play a part in increasing margin.
• Technical understanding, can read basic drawings and can get an appreciation of material/machine tolerances etc.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Looking for someone seeking to build a long-term history with the company that they have ideally done so in the past.
The preference is for candidates living within a reasonable commute of Reading.

In return, a salary package of up to c£40k (Dep on rel exp) with Profit related pay +benefits.
