Head of Adult Mental Health and DOLS - Chatham, Kent

This is to be based in Medway and is a Permanent role paying up to £65,000 per annum inclusive of £4633 special allowance.

Main Responsibilities:
- To ensure that statutory duties under the Mental Health Act 1983 are met (as amended 2007), and the Code Of Practice Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005 (including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards), Human Rights Act 1998 and NHS and Community Care Act in the planning and delivery of Services.
- To ensure that appropriate accountability and governance arrangements are in place.
- To provide strategic leadership and management for Adult Social Care Mental Health. This includes the Social Work Team and AMHP Service, the Community Support Outreach Team, and Day Resources (in partnership with Voluntary Sector organisations and Older Persons Mental Health and the DOLS Service (in partnership with KCC).
- To manage the safe transfer of the Substance Misuse Social Work Team to a Voluntary Sector provider planned for Summer 2014.
- To contribute to the operational management and strategic development and integration of the wider service as a member of the Adult's Management Team. This includes stronger working practice with Children and Families and within Adult Social Care and Public Health and the CCG.
- To set the future direction of the Service and raise the profile and professional standards promoting a social work values and social care outcomes model that builds on strengths of individuals and Carers and families and Communities. To be accountable to elected Members for the transformation of Services.
- To be accountable for the Service budget, ensuring effective monitoring and analysing of spend in order to ensure services are delivered safely within budget.

To be considered for this role you should:
- Have either a Social Work Degree or a Diploma in Social Work,
- Be an AMHP,
- Have a current registration with the HCPC
- Have previous management experience within the Mental Health sector,
- Have a strong working knowledge of key statutory legislation such as MCA/DOLS/MHA.

In return you will receive a salary of up to £65,000 per annum, plus £4633 special allowance and generous other benefits including pension and leave.
