Senior Works Manager-Highways

Location - Covering Lincoln to Derby

Salary - Negotiable, dependant on experience

Role Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Works Manager within my clients Highways Local Authority Business. Initially based on a project in Grantham they currently have a significant pipeline of work coming up within the East Midlands (including Lincolnshire & Derbyshire) with project values ranging from £6m-£15m. This is a great opportunity for skilled Highways professionals to be part of a successful and growing division .

Key Responsibilities:

* Day to day responsibility for delivery of all physical elements of projects from commencement on site to issue of defects certificate
* To maintain and maximise quality of service and profitability
* Maintain and enforce health, safety and environmental standards as required by statute and company's safety policies
* Maintain and enforce quality standards as defined by statute and the company's policies
* To build long term relationships with clients, joint venture partners, contractors and other key stakeholders
* To build and develop skilled personnel to support the division in the region and cater for future growth
* Establish, Maintain and enforce compliance with the current safety legislation and the Company's Health Safety and Environmental Policies
* Undertake role of the Site Safety Supervisor
* Appraise the risk to all company property under your control and install security levels commensurate to the relative values
* Encourage and lead the Challenging Beliefs Affecting Behaviour initiative
* Ensure the site fulfils all obligations for external compliance audits
* Ensure Permit to Work systems, Inductions and Briefings are correctly carried out
* Ensure basic company requirements for supervision, competency, first aid cover etc
* Maintain the culture whereby everyone is continually seeking to satisfy customer requirements
* Ensure systems are in place and used in order that quality of work is to the prescribed contractual and national standards
* Identify \ Assist to introduce new processes, techniques and innovations on site
* Plan and co-ordinate the operational delivery of the project as allocated
* Ensure the correct administering of the Contractual Processes
* Assist with the control and monitoring of the progress of the works
* Administer the cost reporting systems (delivery notes, Plant hire and collections, waste) to maximise cash flow and profitability
* Implement strict financial controls on subcontractors, suppliers and operatives
* Post contract, organise and co-ordinate the undertaking of maintenance work
* Ensure full participation in staff development review, training and mentoring
* Build long term relationships with Clients, Joint Venture Partners, contractors and other key stakeholders
* Monitor and report stock levels of consumables and general building materials and participate in the timely ordering and delivery of items so as to ensure no delays or reduced output within the works.

Experience and Qualifications:

* Highways experience including Roadworks and structures
* Proven track record operating as a General Foreman or higher
* SMSTS
* CSCS card
* Ideally First Aid at work
* Thorough understanding of construction processes
* Thorough understanding of project planning and monitoring processes
* Thorough understanding of safety, environmental and quality management processes and able to demonstrate positive track record.
* Able to demonstrate an effective co-ordination strategy for onsite works
