Quantity Surveyor - Industrial Projects £30,000 - £47,500 + package, based in Cheshire

My client are a national building contractor who work within the following sectors.





This client are very established and very busy, they deliver outstanding construction and refurbishment projects.


* Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
* Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work;
* Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;
* Performing risk, value management and cost control;
* Advising on procurement strategy;
* Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
* Preparing and analysing costings for tenders;
* Allocating work to subcontractors;
* Providing advice on contractual claims;
* Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
* Valuing completed work and arranging payments;
* Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use;
* Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations

The candidate

* Practical and logical qualities and a methodical way of thinking;
* A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving;
* Strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages;
* The ability to write clear and precise reports and to relate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people;
* Negotiating and team-working skills and the ability to motivate and lead those on site;
* Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters.


* You will have worked for a main contractor as an quantity surveyor on building projects in relevant sectors (industrial)
* You will have experience running projects between £3 - £5 million in value.
* You will be competent in the preparation of an Application for Payment including measured works and variations.
* You will have experience working with clients and subcontractors.
* You will have experience of working with various forms of contract such as JCT and NEC or similar, either supervised or on your own initiative.
* You will possess the ability to measure from drawings to produce Contractors Quantities and to refer to available price data and information to prepare estimates for projects of a small value.
* You will understand the purpose of a Cost Value Reconciliation
* All applicants must have a main contracting background
