Vehicle Technician / Fitter- Hessay

Salary - £21,000 per annum.+ Performance Related Bonus Up to 2.5% of basic salary.

Hours - 40 hours per week exclusive of 1 hour unpaid break each day. These hours will be worked between the office hours of 7.30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Main Purpose of Role:

To manufacture vehicle linings and fit out of vehicles to customer requirements, achieving the highest possible standards of workmanship.


- To efficiently carry out installations to acceptable company and industry standards.  To ensure the correct and accurate completion of all job related documentation i.e. job cards, parts orders, materials and consumables used, logbooks, job write-ups and recording of attendance and time on jobs;
- To ensure all working areas of the team are in a clean and safe condition, dispose of displaced material, fluids, packaging etc. into the receptacles provided.
- To ensure at all times that equipment and tools of the team are kept in a clean, safe condition and to report any shortages or damage/faulty equipment to the Workshop & Technical Manager and/or Team Leader (Installations);
- To promote a safe working environment within the Workshop i.e. wearing of appropriate PPE, ensuring that materials, fluids, packaging etc. are correctly disposed and free of hazards at all times;
- To liaise with the Installation & Parts Technician regarding availability of parts ensuring that parts are available for vehicle fit out and that this meets with the planned programme of works and customers deadlines;
- When applicable, use computerised systems efficiently to access and input information;
- To develop and improve service delivery approach in line with best practice methodologies and continuous improvement;
- To remain up to date with relevant technical instructions/data and to maintain awareness of legislation relating to all statutory health and safety, COSHH and the Environmental Protection Act.
- To keep abreast of improvements and techniques and to ensure all aspects of work meet departmental quality standards and raise any concerns with Workshop & Technical Manager and/or Team Leader (Installations);

 Work Experience

- Substantial experience in Auto Electrician fault diagnosis and resultant repairs, including the use of electronic diagnostic equipment
- Experience in woodworking, welding, fabrication, mechanical fitting and/or electrical installations
- Experience / understanding of health & safety & COSHH requirements
- Experience of working within a quality driven framework


- Current knowledge of vehicle and trade practices
- An understanding of workshop equipment in particular woodworking tools
- General knowledge of LCV’s and LCV aftermarket accessories
- Knowledge of Whole Vehicle Type Approval in particular N1 Enhancement Scheme
