Marketing & Communications Consultant

Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 plus a 5% flexible benefit fund

Location: Newcastle (with some travel to York & Blackpool when required)

Role overview

As the member of the Marketing and Communications team, you will be responsible for providing a range of marketing and communications services and activities across SSCL.

Reporting into the Corporate Communications Manager, the Marketing & Communications Consultant must be able to plan, deliver and evaluate operational marketing and communications activities, whilst ensuring a professional, flexible and innovative approach to communications across SSCL and its clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and promote awareness of SSCL’s capabilities and knowledge gained to support ongoing service development
  • Planning content and writing copy for a variety of publications, such as newsletters, internal and external communications, websites, employee intranets, presentations, etc.
  • Managing and delivering internal and external events
  • Develop a personal network of contacts internally at management level and across the SSCL Centre’s of Excellence
  • Support the promotion of SSCL’s strategic objectives and develop relationships that are transferrable into sales opportunities
  • Support the research and development of generic business propositions
  • Contribute to the shaping of overall marketing and communication solutions with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Deliver marketing and communication projects in accordance with agreed scope, time, financial and quality measures

Essential skills

  • Experience of working in a previous marketing and communications position
  • Experience of planning content and writing copy for a variety of publications, such as newsletters, internal and external communications, websites, employee intranets, presentations, etc.
  • Experience of managing and delivering events
  • Excellent systems skills - MS Office applications, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

Desirable skills

  • Experience of using content management systems (i.e. SharePoint)

Security clearance

The successful candidates will be required to go through a SC security clearance.
