An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Project Manager in Leeds, for a highly reputable medium sized Mechanical and Electrical Contractor, who are currently expanding due to the ongoing success of interesting projects. The Project Manager Mechanical role is to manage a team to ensure the successful delivery of Mechanical Projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Project Manager looking to progress to senior level, or a current senior mechanical project manager ready for a new challenge and to be responsible for delivering the highest standards for the mechanical team.

Senior Mechanical Project Manager Role:

Ensuring that mechanical projects are delivered to the correct specifications and required quality / industry standards

Delivering mechanical design and build projects in liaison with internal and external design consultants Programme financial control

Planning work in a way which ensures that key milestones and completion dates are achieved

Setting up strategic planning controls covering the full scope of works for all disciplines including the procurement programme, technical proposals, construction method appraisal, value enhancement and risk analysis controls, tender event schedules, design management  strategy, mechanical project planning and Project Management systems

Identifying issues which may impact on mechanical project delivery and escalating these where necessary

Undertaking an assessment of all risks relating to health, safety, environment and quality of  product

Regularly reviewing the Project Management Plan and contractors methods of work to ensure they remain suitable for the task

Completing snagging and updating clients on progress Monitoring works to ensure compliance with agreed systems of work

Ensuring suitable Commissioning, Inspection and Test Plans are in place for all work carried out

Commercial
Accurately predicting cost to completion

Financial management within agreed budgets and targets to ensure agreed margins

Managing WIP and producing accurate commercial forecast reports

Working closely with the client counterpart and their agents at all stages of the mechanical project

Working with the client to implement opportunities for innovative cost reductions

Ensuring that communication with the client is established and maintained throughout the life of each project

Meeting  or exceeding client KPI’s for each project Attending client meetings where required  People

Regularly reviewing the performance of all employees on both a formal and informal basis

Customer
Working closely with the client counterpart and their agents at all stages of the project

Conducting continuous improvement activities in line with the client’s requirements, implementing corrective and preventative action where required

Working with the client to implement opportunities for innovative cost reductions

Meeting  or exceeding client KPI’s for each project Attending client meetings where required  

Establishing and implementing a meeting structure for each project

Working closely with the Operations Manager, QS, Design and Procurement Teams to develop the procurement, cost, design and project management plans

Working closely with counterparts on other disciplines to ensure project is conducted on a one-team basis

Resource Management
Ensuring an efficient flow of materials to all mechanical projects

Ensuring that mechanical projects have the optimum labour on site at all times, utilising agency labour where required

Effectively controlling supply chain partners, including sub-contractors and recruitment agencies

Managing external consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers in line with the business and project objectives

Managing internal supply chain / support services where required

Ensuring risk assessments and method statements are completed where required and that toolbox talks take place on all projects

Experience and Qualifications
Mandatory Experience of successfully managing Mechanical projects
Experience of managing / reporting on WIP
Mechanical background with relevant technical Board of Trade Certificate of Competency
PC literate with a working knowledge of MS Office packages
5 day Site Managers Safety course certificate
Full driving licence
Preferred Working Knowledge of Microsoft Project HNC Construction / Project Management or PRINCE 2 Qualification CDM Awareness
