As a result of 25%+ year on year growth, a newly created role has arisen for a lead process equipment Design Engineer specialist with a mechanical bias.  This is a strategic lead engineering role to support the companies move into a new purpose-built world class advanced manufacturing facility that has been commissioned and is scheduled for completion in 2018.

The company is recognised as a global leader in the advanced manufacturing of specialist products for leading-edge technology applications.  It is part of a growing US Nasdaq listed multinational company that employs over 1500 people around the world.  The company manufacture both complex high volume / low-value products as well as high value/ low volume or unique one-off products.

As the Equipment Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

- Taking ownership of and developing/implementing new production technology equipment initiatives to enable a smooth and efficient transition to the new facility for new and existing products;
- Working closely with the process and production teams to identify and support process flows through innovative equipment design – mechanics, PLCs, automation, pneumatics etc;
- Creating process production equipment requirement specifications - e.g. jigs, tooling, pick & placement, automation;
- Managing and overseeing the installation, commissioning and safety certification of equipment.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

- HND / Degree equivalent or above in a mechanical, mechatronic or an industrial engineering related subject;
- Demonstrable hands-on process equipment or related mechanical, manufacturing, product design experience (Could be as part of MSc level / above education with work placement) working within a process automation OEM or related fast moving manufacturing environment such as FMCG, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, precision engineering;
- Proven background in automated production equipment, tools and fixture and manufacture;
- Working technical knowledge or expertise in; 3D drafting and mechanical design using either Solidworks, AutoCAD or Delcam; mechanical analysis and associated calculations; creating and implementing pneumatic systems and automation; PLC controls and robotics;
- Experience using FMEA with an understanding and practical experience using Six Sigma and ideally Lean methodologies.

In return, you will receive a salary of £45,000 - £50,000 plus benefits including private healthcare, life assurance, 25 days holiday and pension contribution scheme.

The role is based in Taunton, relocation can be provided for the right candidate (Typically a fund to cover probation period property rental plus removal costs/legal expenses)
