We are looking to recruit Support Workers to our team at an independent college in Northumberland for young people age 16 - 25 with learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, and complex needs. We believe that everyone has a personal best. Those we care for, and those who care for them. As a Support Worker, you’ll find that you’re part of a close, supportive team, all focused on achieving the best outcome for everyone. At our independent college, we offer day, short-break, and outreach services, as well as up to 52-week residential placements. This is an extremely challenging and rewarding position, allowing successful candidates flexibility in their shifts. Young people in our care require 24-hour support. You will therefore be required to work sleep shifts and alternate weekends.

Responsibilities:

* Participate in training and development.
* Go wherever our young people go, participate, and possibly lead indoor & outdoor activities.
* Communicate clearly and easily with young people and others in a variety of ways.
* Read and understand written work and to write clear and accurate reports/notes.
* Form appropriate professional relationships with young people and others involved in their care.
* Plan, organize, and evaluate activities appropriate to the young people’s needs and skills.
* Lead a shift if required and work as part of a team.

Desired experience/qualifications:

*
Previous experience of supporting young people in either a residential of education environment.

*
Awareness of learning difficulties.

*
A full UK driving licence is desirable, but not essential.

*
Minimum age: 18 years.
