Senior Care Assistant

At Inglewood Nursing Home, Eastbourne we are looking for an experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our team. working 36 hours a week on a rota basis, which may include weekends.

Purpose of Role:

As a Care Assistant you will show warmth and support to the residents, helping to promote independence and dignity and positively enhance the lives of the individuals in your care. If you have knowledge and experience of caring for elderly people, come from a caring background and have a genuine love and understanding of older people then this job could be for you.

Key Duties:

Resident Care

* To assist residents with those activities which they would usually perform or have in the past performed themselves but cannot now without assistance. The optimum level of independence should be encouraged and supported whilst maintaining the dignity and self-esteem of the residents.
* Report to the Clinical Care Coordinator Deputy/ Registered Manager any changes or deterioration you observe in the health and general condition of residents, any personal or emotional problems that you become aware of and any matter which has or could potentially have a bearing on the overall well-being of the residents.
* To assist with palliative care for residents who are terminally ill.
* Organise the key worker system on the designated unit and ensure the timely updating, development and review of care plans.
* Complete, observe and review care planning needs for Clients, and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.


* Act as a role model to all Care Assistants.
* Organise the care staff for the shift, delegate care based on your knowledge of the residents and staff levels and abilities.
* Ensure that all Care Assistants with in your team follow the individualized care plans for residents and encourage them to contribute towards their development and review.
* Assist with staffing rota’s and shift coverage as required
* Supervising care delivery and reporting any concerns to the RGN/ RMN in change or the Clinical Care Co-ordinator.
* Support training and supervision of junior and new Staff Members in all aspects of their work in the Home, under the supervision of Senior Staff Members.


Qualified to NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or above

Experience of working in Health and Social Care

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends

Caring & Supportive personality

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in written form
