Commercial Partner
(Senior Associate or Junior Partner)

Our client is a well-established legal firm looking for a senior associate or a junior commercial partner to join them and to undertake legal work on their behalf. You will advise clients on the law surrounding Corporate / Commercial issues, in particular that relating to mergers and acquisitions and must have experience with sale and purchases of companies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To manage a case load and advise clients both at client meetings and via advice letters and emails. You will also be expected to draft documentation relevant to the matter.

• To research new issues to find appropriate and creative solutions for clients and respond to enquiries from new clients.

• To comply with firm wide procedures, including money laundering, letters of engagement, billing and time recording.

• To develop and influence evolving aspects of Corporate law.

• Forge strong client relationships and show the ability to manage these relationships by demonstrating an ability to develop new business both from existing clients and through attracting new clients.

• Comply with and promote firm-wide/Solicitors Regulation Authority procedures, for example, compliance, HR and accounts. Always keeping current with the latest legal knowledge and working practices.

• Act as a role model and mentor to junior members of the firm and promote the company’s core values – clients, people, teamwork and ownership.

• Excellent technical, business and interpersonal skills at all levels across the business with keen attention to detail and plain English documentation, reports and communications.

• Analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities with capacity to learn, to assimilate information quickly and to acquire new skills.

• Understands business concepts and is able to identify key issues. Develops recommendations based on sound, well balanced analysis. Links ideas and proposed solutions back to business objectives.

• Highly motivated, proactive and outcome-orientated with a can-do attitude.

• Ability to work under pressure, on own initiative, with minimum supervision and run own case load. Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

• Ability to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment. A flexible and adaptable team player who supports, promotes, develops and motivates others.

• A strong sense of and commitment to maintaining high client service levels.

• Good marketing and business development skills at all levels with an interest in preparation of seminars and articles. Able to exploit opportunities to network and promote the firm both internally and across business and professional sectors.

• High standard of IT skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and any legal software: Recoop, Envision, VisualFiles.

• Smart, professional, and credible, with the ability to act with tact and discretion and to maintain flexibility regarding working hours is essential to deal with non-routine requirements.

• Ideally you should have an existing book of business or contacts.
