Commercial Manager required within a leading, FTSE 100 company based in Royston.  This exciting role is joining their new, dynamic and rapidly expanding business unit that combines expertise in application engineering, materials science and electrochemistry.

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for the commercial function with primary focus on the commercialisation of their new Automotive technology, for the purpose of significant revenue and profit generation in support of the business strategy.  The incumbent is accountable for the creation and execution of the commercial plan to support the business strategy, budget, three and ten year plans

Key responsibilities:

- Execution of the commercial plan to support the business strategy, budget, three and ten year plans. Grow the business revenues in line with the 10-year plan.
- Provide a leading role in the creation, by the management team, of the business strategy, budget, three and ten year plans, with specific responsibility for the commercial aspects of that strategy.
- Develop and lead commercial teams in all markets for battery materials.
- Participate as an effective and collaborative member of the management team, contributing to wider business management matters, and supporting other management team members appropriately in their work.
- Develop relationships with existing and potential customers to identify synergies and new or expanded product opportunities.  Ensure existing customer relationships are maintained and grown.
- Continuously seek, evaluate and prioritise new product and business opportunity portfolios consistent with strategic and commercial objectives, including through marketing and market research; identify and drive commercial, customer and internal synergies from which cost savings and / or profits can be generated.
- Develop and lead the customer service function.

Are you the ideal candidate?

- Educated to degree level, preferably in a science or business subject;
- Several years of experience leading commercial teams in a technology driven market;
- Experience in Automotive industry is essential
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to strategise influence and deliver.
