KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Preparation of design proposals for bespoke applications
• Preparation of conceptual designs and rendered images
• Develop, maintain and amend engineering design drawings using 2D and 3D software packages.
• Contribute to new product design, reducing costs and lead times by investigating and implementing new design techniques and manufacturing processes
• Liaise with suppliers to find optimal design solutions
• Responsible for carrying out risk assessments and advising safe methods of work
• Responsible for ensuring designs meet required regulatory compliance, CE compliance, Machinery Directives, LVD, etc.
• Preparation of technical quotations
• Producing estimates of product costs
• Develop accurate bills of materials
• Plan and organise own daily & weekly workload to ensure delivery of project milestones and longer-term strategic business objectives
• Provide technical assistance to internal Marketing Organisations and departments.
• Prepare product test and validation documents.
• Implement Engineering Changes accurately within required timescales
• Investigate customer quality concerns ensuring that timely and effective corrective measures are implemented
• Participate in and recommend continuous improvement activities
• Liaise with other departments to efficiently and effectively resolve problems
• Promote, improve and maintain appropriate quality systems during the design process.
• Ensure safety, health and environment is inherent in all projects.
• Identify own training needs and communicate these through to Line Manager and Senior Manager.
• Any other duties as reasonably be requested by the company.

ESSENTIAL
• Educated to Degree Level in Mechanical Engineering (preferable) or Electrical Engineering related discipline.
• Experience in design engineering within a low or medium volume production environment or instrumentation industry
• Formal design Change Management process knowledge
• 2D and 3D design techniques (although training on software packages will be provided)
• IT literate (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Innovative, can spot opportunities for improvement

• Living within commutable distance of Salford
• Flexibility for UK and overseas business travel

DESIRABLE
• Formal training in Health and Safety
• Some work experience within an organisation that uses batch assembly methods of in production of equipment/machinery with mechanical parts
• Knowledge of fabrication, welding, sand/die casting, vacuum forming processes
• Familiar with labour intensive, manually assembled manufacture
• Knowledge of ERP systems
• Knowledge of metal detection design in a mechanical batch assembly environment
• Autodesk Inventor experience
• Able to quickly gain credibility and respect – both internally and externally with suppliers and subcontractors
• Persuasive and influential.
• Ability to communicate at all levels of a business
• Flexibility to work out of hours as required
