Salary: to £23k

The overall purpose of this role will be to assist with the monthly management accounts process, with particular focus on fixed assets, IT costs and repairs and maintenance as well as maintaining a fixed asset register and the associated schedules, along with preparing and recording accounting journals such as prepayments and accruals.

Key accountabilities –
•Maintaining accurate and up to date records for fixed asset purchases in the form of a fixed asset register.
•Reconciling the fixed asset records to those in the accounting system in order to ensure there are no discrepancies.
•Ensuring that all fixed asset expenditure is: ◦Genuinely capital in nature
◦Appropriately authorised according to the company policy
◦In line with budget
◦Correctly coded in the accounting system

•Acting as key contact within the Finance team to the IT department, helping to ensure that IT expenditure is in line with budget and correctly coded.
•Calculating and processing prepayments and accruals in respect of IT expenditure.
•Providing analysis of IT costs compared to budget as part of the monthly process and also on ad hoc basis as required.
•Ensuring that repairs and maintenance costs are recorded accurately in the accounting system.
•Acting as the key contact to a third party provider of repairs and maintenance services.
•Preparing balance sheet reconciliations in respect of fixed assets, IT and repairs and maintenance, presenting them to the Finance senior management team as part of the month-end process.
•Various other duties to support the wider responsibilities of the management accounts team

Qualifications and Experience

The following is essential:
•An understanding of accounting principles
•Evidence of excellent attention to detail and working to tight deadlines
•Microsoft Excel skills including the use of formulas (e.g. SUMIFS, vLOOKUP…etc.)
•General computer literacy

The following would be desirable:
•Experience of working as part of a Finance function within a business with annual turnover of at least £20m
•Experience of operating in a multi-site business and/or the Retail industry
•Experience of performing accounting and/or administrative tasks efficiently and accurately
