An opportunity that is becoming increasingly rare in general practice - the chance to have a work/life balance and a reasonable workload! The GPs see 14 patients in the morning and 9 patients in the afternoon, with plenty of time for between 1 - 2 hours lunch each day. The surgery has outstanding staff retention with many staff having been there 15+ years, and is stable and based in a purpose-built health centre.

Salary - circa £9,500 per session + indemnity cover + 6 weeks' annual leave + 1 week study leave

The surgery -

  • Purpose-built practice

  • Mixed patient base, more deprived than affluent
  • Caring, concerning practice that think about their doctors
  • Doctors that lunch and laugh together

  • Support of 2 Practice Nurses
  • Excellent back-up team, dedicated scanners, input clerk, secretaries, reception team, management team

Your role -

  • 6 - 8 sessions
  • Below average workload
    • Morning - 9.30am start - 14 appointments until 12noon
    • Afternoon - 4.30pm start - 9 appointments
    • Limited home visits, about 5 for the whole practice each week, leaving 1-2 hours comfortably daily for lunch (the GPs often go out to lunch together)
  • Duty doctor rotateed
