Data Networks Analyst

Position Purpose

To provide technical support for the company's Data Network on both LAN, WAN, Wireless and Security environments.

To ensure maximum service availability and performance through proactive monitoring, reporting and planning.

To contribute to the overall architecture and design of the company Infrastructure

To work within the data network team providing proven technical support knowledge in two or more of the areas under the technical competencies section of this Job Profile.

Principal Accountabilities

Strategy & Planning:

o Implement, promote and enforce standards, safeguards, and procedures concerning the technical architecture of the Cisco Core Networking layer across multiple sites, WAN environment, Security layers and Load balancing environments using industry best practises where possible.

o Aid in the creation of roadmaps and aligning IT requirements to meet business need.

o Continuously review advances Networking and Security practises in line with PCI DSS.

  • Play a proactive role in each relevant project to establish and aid in the delivery of the requirement.
  • Understand the relationship between the teams own specialism and other IT specialities.
  • Must be highly adaptable and contribute to requirements outside of immediate job description as and when required.

Technical Competencies

Subject matter knowledge of 2 or more of the following disciplines:

  • LAN Networking - CCNA in Cisco technologies and demonstrable knowledge of Nexus Technology
  • Additional Dell, HP, switching experience would be advantageous on blade enclosures.
  • WAN and Routing - demonstrable knowledge of routing protocols BGP, Multi area OSPF, GRE tunnelling, IPSLA, PBR and scripting.
  • Wireless Networking - Cisco WLC, ISE and CMX. Multiple Access points across 3 physical sites.
  • Microsoft Networking Technologies and Principles
  • Network Monitoring - Demonstrable of monitoring environment. THe company currently use Solar winds , Cisco Prime,
  • Network Load Balancing - Big IP F5 incorporating the Load Balancing and Remote access modules. (LTM and APM).

Additional advantage skills

  • Security Layer - Cisco ASA, IPS. Checkpoint UTM, Zscaler Webfiltering.
  • Storage Networking - ISCsII with Nexus switches. Current Storage environments are EMC Clarion and Dell Equalogics.
  • IP Telephony - An understanding of IP Telephony Infrastructure and its component parts.
  • Awareness of ITIL.

  • Occasional overnight work for maintenance or project activities
