Your experience and knowledge is needed for at least 3 months within a Central London Local Authority to provide pre application advice on means of escape, fire fighting and other fire related aspects that will need to be depended upon by clients. You will be running complex fire engineering modelling using industry programs to evaluate the acceptability of various alternative means of escape. This is a real opportunity for you to add real value to an already successful Building Control department, generating additional business for the team.

As a Senior Building Control Surveyor, your day will look like this:

* Leading on pre application discussions on major projects, involving detailed advice on fire related aspects and making up electronic drawings to provide alternative solutions and designs
* Assessing means of escape and other fire related matters in complex buildings for compliance with Building Regs
* Assessing fire engineered designs and Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) analysis using Fire Dynamic Simulator software
* Preparing and giving evidence in court as necessary in connection with enforcement action
* Attending London District Surveyors Fire Committee to provide expert advice on policy formation
* Generally advising and assisting Building Control Surveyors in fire related matters

To be successful as the Senior Building Control Surveyor, you will need:

* To have completed or be working towards a Building Control related degree or equivalent, or for highly experienced candidates be able to demonstrate an equal level of knowledge through work experience
* To have a minimum of 5 years technical experience within Building Control
* Have full knowledge of fire related legislation and how to apply it
* Have a high level of attention to detail, impeccable communication skills and be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to technical issues
