Job Summary
An inter-governmental organisation aimed at promoting peace, democracy, human rights and development is looking to recruit a Research Officer to assist their Education team in the preparation of materials for a Global Conference scheduled to take place in Fiji, in February 2018.

The postholder will provide research and technical support in the preparation of documents, undertake editorial work on reports and papers for the conference and support the implementation of action within the conference work programme.

Your new role
The postholder will be responsible for: researching and producing short briefing papers on selected topics, including designing, conducting and analysing research tools such as interviews and/or surveys as required; conduct desk research and data analysis for longer and more in-depth pieces of work on selected issues; assist the Education Advisor in the finalisation of research papers for publication and technical presentations; as well as quality control including proof reading and editing paper presentations, reports and publications; contributing to the preparation and delivery of reports, policy papers, briefings and speeches; monitor latest developments and thinking in education issues and brief the education team accordingly; assist with meeting logistics and some administration responsibilities; liaising, communicating and building relationships with internal colleagues, experts and senior officials.

What you'll need to succeed
First things first, excellent research and writing skills are paramount. Applicants are expected to hold a post graduate degree in Education, Public Administration, (Human/Education/social) development studies, or any Social Science discipline. At least 3 years relevant experience in/with international development organisations is expected and you must have knowledge and understanding of Education and development issues within developing country settings. Proficiency with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and experience in producing quantitative and qualitative research outputs will strengthen your application and those with a sound understanding of project design, including project budgeting and forecasting will be favoured.

What you'll get in return
This is a full-time 9 month fixed-term contract paying £35,447 per annum pro rata. Client is looking to get someone started ASAP.
