Job Summary
A strategic regional authority are looking to recruit a Senior Policy and Projects Officer on a part-time basis, to:

1 Write a sports strategy document; and
2 Support with development of a new grassroots sport programme and write a policy document setting out the detail of the programme.

Your new role

Strategy document:
While there will be some analytical work to be undertaken, much of the material required to write the strategy document is already available. Consequently, the task is primarily about writing the document. You will be expected to consult formally with the London Assembly and Sport England, amongst others. They envisage the document to be concise (8-12 pages), which will set out: a contextual narrative explaining the current sporting landscape in London, the UK and internationally, together with an outline of the policies that currently affect sport; a factual narrative about the Mayor's current and previous involvement in sport; the key priorities for the Mayor's future involvement in sport; and how these objectives will be delivered.

Policy Document - New Grassroots Sports Programme
Working on developing the programme is already underway. My client is looking for someone to support that work and to write policy document that will be used to secure future funding for sport as part of the next budget. They envisage the policy document will: set out a clear rationale for the new programme; identify what steps need to be taken to implement the programme through an implementation plan; identify the financial and other resources require to implement the programme; identify any other issues required for implementation.

What you'll need to succeed
Applicants are expected to have significant experience of: developing policies through robust analysis and evidence-based decision making; writing strategic plans and/or policy documents; working with a range of stakeholders; and working effectively to tight deadlines. Having a good understanding of the sporting landscape in London, the UK and internationally, together with the policies that currently affect sport, will strengthen your application.

What you'll get in return
My client is looking to start someone as soon as possible and they envisage both pieces of work to take around 6 months to complete (working concurrently). The work need not be full time in the first three months, but a minimum of 3 days/week, post would require full time for the final two months. The role is paying £27.12ph Premium PAYE.
