Job Description

The successful candidate will manage the Property and Asset Accounting processes for all our clients UK & Ireland hotels and Head Office. 

The will be a preference if you have also worked in the Hotel sector.

More specifically, the position will include the following duties:

1. General and management

• Maintain the appropriate records for audit purposes
• Ensure the accuracy of all reported data
• Ensure that controls are implemented and monitored effectively
• Ensure that all authorisation procedures are respected
• Respect reporting deadlines as dictated both nationally and internationally
• Annual appraisals of team members and mid-term reviews
• Recruit team members when required
• Induct and train staff
• Provide professional accounting support to the finance teams
• Train, develop and manage new and existing staff
• Active participation in our clients UK Accounting Management Team

2. Accounts

For our clients Property Companies and Holdings,
• Prepare, and be fully responsible for, the profit and loss and balance sheet
• Supervise the VAT returns
• Authorise of all Bank Reconciliations
• Authorise Accounts Payable invoices for payment
• Reconcile intercompany balances with AccorInvest partners on a monthly basis
• Manage the Tax and Audit fees schedule in conjunction with the tax manager and reporting managers
• Liaise with Treasury department for finance related subjects

3. Fixed assets accounting

• Manage the Fixed Assets accounting team
• Manage responsibility for our clients UK group fixed assets
• Manage responsibility for Hotels under Construction accounting
• Closure of FA module with Grandback central team
• Supervision of retention accounts for validity and accuracy
• Presentation of proposed asset write off’s
• GL/FA quarterly reconciliation
• Control of aborted development provisions with Asset Management
• Compilation of Government Stats relating to fixed assets
• Recharge of Hotel Consultant Services Agreement (HCSA) to projects upon instructions from Construction department in accordance with our clients standards
• Ensure that asset dictionary for categories and depreciation is properly managed and controlled
• Correct processing of retro rebates to relevant assets
• Authorise bank Reconciliation statements for all Hotel establishments in Construction
• Supervise payment of capex / construction invoices monthly by Centralised Bacs Processing, Bankline transfers or cheque
• Complete the full hand over of all accounts and supporting documents to Hotel Accountants upon the Hotel’s opening
• Monthly Intrastat VAT declaration for the group
• Compliance with the tax rules relating to CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) under the guidance of the Tax Manager
• Administer with Group Treasury Controller any centralised payments
• Supervise payments of Foreign Suppliers

4. Government & Legislation

• Complete Government statistics as requested
• Respect archive legislation periods
• Any other new legislation as and when required.

Personal Profile for the role

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Good level of finance qualifications
• Proven experience in accounting for fixed assets and property related transactions. Minimum of 3 years previous experience in a similar role.
• Strong IT skills mainly Excel, and comfortable with IT systems
• Knowledge, both P&L and balance sheet
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal relationships skills
• Good organisation skills with a disciplined approach of work in order to prioritise and to meet tight deadlines
• Able to work under pressure / tight deadlines
• An open, hospitable service attitude towards clients and a friendly, ethical but business-like attitude towards internal and external interlocutors
