Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Purpose:
Responsible for Commercial Performance of works carried under the Diversions Works Programme within the London geographical area. Ensuring works are carried out in a commercially viable manner through cost control measures, sub-contractor liabilities and risk are minimised, budget and cash flow targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day to day running of local Commercial Team including Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors to ensure:

• Sub-Contractor payments are made strictly within the Terms and Conditions stated, Limits of Authority are not exceeded, payment/payless notices are issued correctly.
• Ensure all contra charges are levied in full and deducted in a timely manner.
• All costs are correctly recorded and uploaded to the contractors works management system to ensure Applications for Payment submitted to the client are promptly approved.
• Weekly payroll is processed in line with company procedures and overtime etc is correctly challenged and reviewed by Operations.
• Projects are closed within key deadlines to ensure Cash forecasts are achieved.
• Provide support and leadership to the local Operational Team to pro-actively ensure costs are minimised and works are delivered within agreed budgets.
• Produce and present in detail, Monthly cost and value reports, to the local Operations/Commercial Team.
• Contribute to budget and cash flow forecast calculations and ensure on going performance against any targets set is effectively communicated.
• Have a thorough understanding of sub-contract agreements in place and a good understanding of the Main Contract.
• Attend regular meetings with key sub-contractors and take a lead in discussions over any commercial items.
• Ensure Operational and Commercial staff are fully aware and act in accordance with the provisions stated in any sub-contract agreements in place.
• Thoroughly review and challenged back where required any cost build ups submitted by sub-contractors as part of Compensation Event claims, before passing to Senior Management team to approve.
• Liaise with Client QS/Auditor to understand client’s requirements and ensure they are met

Technical Specification (Experience/Knowledge/Qualifications):
General Experience:

• Significant experience in a similar role
• Preferably Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or other relevant business discipline
• Non-degree holders should have a demonstrable record of success with extensive experience in similar roles
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent numeracy skills
• Use of Microsoft Office applications – High level knowledge of Excel
• Confident and positive
• Committed and enthusiastic
• Accurate and timely provision of information
• UK Driving Licence
