Our Blue Chip Engineering Client has an opportunity for a new and exciting role as a Developing Costing Engineer.

The Role

In this role you facilitate the Engineering proposal cost estimating process which includes; reviewing and understanding the chosen Basis of Estimate (BOE) as well as developing, implementing & executing appropriate agreed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for existing and for new products prior to adding to mainframe/ERP system.

You will Be attending interdepartmental meetings, establishing deadlines and working closely with cross-functional teams will be required.

Continuous Improvement (CI) is at its heart of the role and you will identify areas for possible improvement and cost reductions or quality and productivity increases by incrementally innovating product.

The manufacturing processes involved will mainly involve NC/CNC turning, NC/CNC milling, presswork, MAG/TIG welding. A good understanding of how these processes are planned and produce is required.

Key Tasks
Understand all approved documentation, records and ERP data/processes that detail critical aspects of a project cost estimate, including; cost and labour estimates, materials and its availability, any assumptions or deviations, any data, studies or analysis used as a reference, and any other details which impact the cost estimates.

Compile, review and present appropriate data outside of approved documentation, records and ERP data where findings or outcomes negatively impact on facilitating the Engineering cost estimation process.

Monitor, identify & report cost variances from agreed targets throughout any project life.

Reduce complicated costing activities into a collection of tasks that can be clearly defined with achievable performance/delivery expectations.

Produce WBS charts and present data to stakeholders to ensure agreed

About You

Ideally you will be looking for a progressive role where you can grow and develop. Strong communication skills and a good understanding of Microsoft Office are important. Previous experience of costing and estimating is preferred along with an understanding of purchasing and engineering support.

The role is Days Monday - Friday 38 hours per week however there mat be the occasional need to be flexible with working hours.
