A new an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test Engineer based within the West London area. Our client operates within the safety systems industry and are currently looking for a Test Engineer to join the Engineering department within they're office. You'd have experience within a similar position testing electrical products in line with current standards and criteria to gain CE markings including passing EMC and the low voltage directives.

You will join an established engineering team responsible for the testing of the companies' audible and visual warning signalling products.

You should have experience of testing electronics designs, housings and complete units, the candidate will need a good engineering background with excellent knowledge of testing processes and best practises, having previously tested circuit / software and mechanical housings to specified test plans.

you will work within the engineering department testing designs from the initial prototype specification through to production, and must be capable of working with minimum supervision giving clear solutions to problems found and able to communicate these clearly to the engineering manager and other team members. You will also be required to prepare test reports on development testing carried out. There will also be a need to support with testing existing designs.

The candidate will be required to ensure products tested meet all testing specifications required to gain CE marking including passing EMC and the low voltage directives. Some products are third-party approved for hazardous locations and as such a knowledge of testing required for these products although not essential could be an advantage.

Qualification and skills:

* Experience in testing of analogue and digital designs and mechanical assemblies during development cycle.
* Ideally you will be qualified to a minimum of HNC, preferably HND in electronics
* A systematic and thorough approach to your work
* Competent with Oscilloscope, power measurement instruments (power, current, inrush), multi meters, current probes, temperature recording and logging, climatic chambers, signal generators, programming tools, power supplies etc.
* Able to read and understand schematic diagrams
* Be conversant with working with SMD components
* Excellent soldering skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Microsoft Office packages for writing various reports, test plans, accessing registers etc.
* To support the introduction of any new testing strategies and tools
* Help to develop Test Plans to ensure projects pass project life cycle gateway reviews.
* Able to manage workload efficiently working to project deadlines
* Competent in working with DC and AC voltages
* Averse with latest developments in testing. Aware of the many different testing techniques both electrically and mechanically.

Primary duty:

* Testing products to specification to ensure quality and reliability
* Monitoring and recording tests
* Using bench test equipment such as, oscilloscopes,
* Testing products in line with procedures
* Diagnostic and fault finding on assemblies to component level
* Strong Analytical skills - able to identify solutions and implement
* Present information clearly and concisely through written reports and verbal communication
* Ability to read, understand and diagnose failed electronic assemblies
* Design and make test fixtures, cables and other ancillary parts needed for testing
* Knowledge of European Standards
* Assisting electronic design team when required
* Assist the department in continuous improvement of the test strategy and procedures

An Advantage:
* Knowledge of hazard
* Knowledge of sound and light measuring techniques and equipment.
* Knowledge of electronics used in wide temperature range products especially sounders and beacons.
