Well-established refurbished Day Nursery situated in Putney is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Baby Room. The Nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break. They are open Monday - Friday 07:30-19:00 and cater for up to 57 children aged between 3 months - 5 years.

The Nursery is situated within a large purpose built building that has recently been refurbished, the setting encourages all children to develop thorough play and ensure that all the children’s individual needs are met to help them to reach their highest potential. They four aged based rooms, with the Baby Room benefiting from its own 'baby garden’ specifically designed to encourage early physical development. The other rooms have shared access to an all weather garden so the children are free to explore the outdoors come rain or shine.

The position will be working with children aged 3months - 2 years within the Baby Room. You will ensure that the room is run to a high standard and assisting the other members of staff within the room. You will be responsible for up to 5 Key Children which will include building a strong relationship with parents as well as ensuring all observations and journals are kept up to date.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, fundraising events
  • To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc
  • Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the nursery is fulfilled
  • To respect the confidentiality of information received
  • Washing and changing children when required
  • Following weaning and potty training plans in accordance with the parents wishes
  • Taking part in floor based play encouraging physical and social development
  • To ensure the Setting of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication both written and verbal skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
