This is a new opportunity for an experienced electronics design engineer to join a successful and expanding automotive engineering company that designs and develops systems for the electric vehicle market place.

The role will involve working within a multi-skilled team of design and development engineers working collaboratively to take new concepts through to final validation and production. The products involve sophisticated electrical machine / motor designs and associated motor control and power electronics hardware. Your prime focus will be to deliver high reliability and safety critical motor control hardware.

As principal engineer you will have overall responsibility for control electronics including architecture, requirements specification, concept and detailed design. This will include analogue and digital circuit design and schematic capture, board development, hands on validation testing and documentation.

The ideal candidate would be an experienced senior electronics engineer with demonstrable experience of delivering complete electronics design projects in a commercial engineering environment. Experience of control and signal conditioning of realtime applications wuld be highly desirable.

Skills / Experience required:
• A good degree or similar in a relevant subject (e.g. electrical / electronic engineering, computer science, physics of similar)
• Extensive experience of robust digital electronics designs taking full responsibility from architecture, concept and detailed design through validation and final delivery
• Strong digital circuit design (and ideally analogue) experience including schematic capture and ideally PCB layout
• Excellent knowledge of control electronics and signal conditioning
• Excellent knowledge of embedded systems, realtime microprocessor based hardware coupled with knowledge of FPGA devices, memory and communications interfaces (e.g. SPI / CAN)
• A positive and flexible attitude, organised and proactive, coupled with good communication skills and the ability to work well in a small company environment

Others (beneficial):
• Good experience of analogue electronics design
• Digital design and development of FPGA devices using VHDL
• PCB layout would be very useful
• Experience of developing control hardware for motors and inverters
• Knowledge of power electronics would be useful
• Experience of delivering high reliability and safety critical electronics systems ideally from within the electric vehicle, automotive or other appropriate industries e.g. avionics, medical device, rail etc_
• Knowledge of ISO26262 would be great
