Our established client in Wellingborough has been supplying customers with compressed air solutions for more than 50 years.

They are looking for an experienced Field Service Manager to join their team, successful applicant will need to be confident in managing highly skilled and experienced engineer and able to discuss technical concepts. Main responsibilities:

• Support the Service Director and Board in reviewing and evolving the strategic direction of the company
• Participate proactively in Monthly Management Meetings & provide monthly reports and KPI’s as required.
• Provide direction to the service department including ensuring the size and structure of the department can deliver against agreed goals.
• Conduct annual appraisals for staff and provide regular constructive feedback
• Joint responsibility alongside other department heads for ensuring good communication across the various teams so that the company operates as efficiently as possible with motivated staff.
• Manage & maintain specific product & H&S training requirements as needed with assistance from the H&S Manager.
• Lead and drive forward the field service operation in a proactive way
• Manage engineers’ productivity, work levels, quality of work and assist with technical advice where required, as reported by the Desk Engineer.
• Responsibility for production and completion of required paperwork within agreed deadlines (warranty claims etc)
• Strive for continuous improvement of operational efficiency through service team practices and procedures including reporting etc.

Person Spec:

• Northants based
• Experience of Field Management of 12 to 20 Field Based Engineers in a Service environment
• Demonstrable experience of HR matters, including conducting appraisals and disciplinary meetings. Should be able to demonstrate a good grasp of coaching techniques
• Creation and management of KPIs, including setting of targets and analysis of trends
• Must be an excellent communicator, written and verbal, confident at all levels
• High degree of IT literacy required, together with experience of using field service hardware and software
• Health & Safety qualification would be advantageous
