Job Title - Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location - Wimbledon

Salary - £25k - £35k + Package

The Company:

My client specializes in alterations and refurbishments of family homes in London. They are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team to work on mainly basement formation, major structural alterations, complex M&E design & installations.

My client has recently worked on a refurbishment of a Grade II family home in St Johns Wood. This was an exciting project as the property was granted planning permission for two ground floor extensions, which is unusual for a Grade II listed property. Works consisted of extensive conservation and remedial works along with a complete fit out from new M&E services to specialist finishes.

The Role:

* Assistance in the compilation of monthly valuation applications; between four and eight documents per month for high-end residential projects ranging from £1m to £10m contract value;
* Liaison with sub-contractors to ensure their applications are submitted in good time
* Assessment, substantiation and negotiation of sub-contractor variation accounts
* Sub contractor final account assessments and negotiation
* Liaison with Site Managers for monthly progress
* Assistance in the preparation of tender submissions for high-end residential projects ranging from £1m to £10m contract value.
* Issuing supply and sub contract tender enquiries
* Review and interrogation of supply / sub contract tender returns
* Compilation of Cost Plans / Bills of Quantities / Schedules of Works
* Take-offs of tender-issue drawings for scope and quantities
* Manage project procurement schedule; coordinating with Contracts Director to ensure timely orders
* Re-tendering of supplier and sub-contractor packages once projects are underway, with additional consideration for capacity and variations to tendered scheme
* Review of all construction issue drawings versus Contract set as project progresses
* Regularly review site instructions for any variation costs to the project
* Manage the Confirmation of Instruction schedule for each project; ensuring all CA/PQS queries are addressed in a timely manner
* Assist in the identification of Requests for Information; compilation of Estimates; and raising of Confirmations of Instructions as required
* Draft sub contract orders for final approval by Contracts Director, negotiating best possible contract and commercial terms
* Manage and assist preparation of supplier purchase orders
* Assist in production of Notification of Delay notices, Extension of Time claims and Final Account submissions and negotiations
* Assist in compilation of loss & expense, prolongation and disruption claims

To be successful in the role you will possess the following skills and attributes:

* BSc in Quantity Surveying, or in the process of obtaining this
* Have demonstrated residential experience
* Have excellent communication skills
* Must be computer literate
