Job Purpose:

Supervise the day-to-day workshop activities and prioritise the production of specific items to ensure adherence to project timescales.

Key Responsibilities: (Key Tasks)

Safety Management within the Production Departments, Testing and Stores Departments.
Manage the Production Teams, lead hands, stores team and output of product. Provide leadership to all workshop employees and ensuring that all welding, fitting operations, assembly and test activities are carried out safely at all times.
Manage the material flow in the workshop and ensuring that material is received in a controlled manner, stored in segregated locations, identified for traceability where required and processed in accordance with the appropriate drawings and specifications.
Advise and assist sales team on providing costs for quotations
Ensure that high pressure testing is properly planned and controlled throughout all stages using calibrated equipment and a test procedure aimed at contract compliance and a safe methodology.
Manages compliancy in all supervised areas.
Preparation of budgets and forecasting.
Capex reporting.
Shop floor management of job costs through good direct hours discipline and controllership.
Works to maximize production capacity by establishing, adjusting and monitoring production schedules consistent with master schedules.
Responsible for scheduling the production of new manufactured and sub contract product for delivery to customers’ on time.
Foster and lead LEAN improvement activities and culture
Thorough understanding of product line(s)/service(s) in the operational area.
Thorough understanding of customer requirements and market conditions.
Knowledge of company’s business practices including strategic planning, budgeting and staffing.
Introduction and maintenance of operational systems to achieve process improvements.
Employee management and development.
Ensure all supervised staff are trained appropriately.
Supervise competency issues and ensure that only employees who are qualified are asked to carry out tasks.
Ensure the product meets all contractual and quality requirements before shipment.
Ensure proper use of eye and hearing protection and other PPE in the workshop.
Ensure all supervised staff are trained appropriately.
Maintain work equipment to minimise risk.
Any other duties, as required by the Company.

Education / Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
8+ years manufacturing experience.
3+ years management experience.

Technical Competencies:

Able to interpret drawings/specification requirements and plan associated production activities.
to detail and effective checking regime
Flexibility, adaptability and professionalism, with the ability to work cooperatively as part of a multidiscipline team, or on individual projects.

Key Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Good management and interpersonal skills
Team player
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
Good record keeping
Lean manufacturing experience

Experience:

Extensive experience within the engineering fabrication industry.
Previous experience within a similar role.

QHSE Competencies:

Maintain behaviour in compliance with HSE requirements
Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behavior.
Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate Supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk
