Key Tasks:

The development and delivery of high quality services achieved through the involvement of all stakeholders
Responsibility for the Operational delivery of the annual business plan for Children’s Services and the five-year Business Plan plan ensuring that Operations performs within the forecasted out-turns
To deliver on Operational financial targets and Operational KPI`s
The effective management and development of the Operations team to ensure the delivery of high quality services that are fully Ofsted compliant
To develop the provision of Children`s Homes and services across the South East
To manage an increasing portfolio, informed by a sound knowledge of the childcare sector and the regulatory framework within which our sector is required to work
Operational leadership across Children`s services
To ensure that company priorities and requirements are delivered to reflect; both within and outside the organisation; professional and exemplary services
Responsibility for the management and positive development of a range of operational relationships external to the company
To develop and maintain a workforce that is fully equipped to work with the children in our care
A willingness to perform the broad range of tasks required for the role, including a willingness to be directly involved in Operational service delivery as and when required
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post

To deliver the Operational elements within the five-year Business Plan, demonstrating a child-centred approach, commercial focus, structure, intelligence and enthusiasm
To establish; and then to monitor; clear performance targets, both quantitative and qualitative to significantly improve operational performance and to take steps to address any inadequacy
To ensure the performance of the Operational Management Team is effective, efficient, and delivered within budget
To contribute to the development of company strategy through a thorough understanding of the current local and national policy context, local competitive forces and business opportunities

To provide professional leadership to all Operational staff within the company`s Children`s services
To ensure that all members of the Operations Team have credible and challenging Personal Development Plans and to oversee their delivery
To raise the profile and reputation of the organisation by working closely with partners in health and social care
To develop and maintain an evidence - based culture, which is child centred, commands the confidence of commissioners and customers, and promotes multi-disciplinary and cross organisational working
To contribute to the company’s Talent Management processes, supporting staff with identified potential to realise and achieve their full potential within the company.
Board level responsibilities and accountabilities:

To develop Key Performance Indicators for Operational Services and to provide comprehensive monthly reports to the Board
A shared responsibility with other Directors for overseeing systems used throughout the organisation to ensure the safety of our children and staff is compliant with governance requirements and health and safety legislation
Personal responsibilities:

The post holder must assume responsibility for his/her own professional and personal development (supported by the company where appropriate) to ensure that she/he develops and maintains continuing competence to deliver the organisation’s requirements, including the fair and supportive management of all Childcare Operations staff.

A key component of development is being fully aware of regulatory and legal requirements impacting on Operational services and ensuring that all staff within those services are aware of and deliver their individual responsibilities.

Establish the quality, capability and safety of the existing Children`s Homes
Produce a clear summary of the required operational targets and quality standards
Devise and deliver upon an action plan to achieve and maintain the desired standards
Based on demographic information and knowledge, make proposals to the Board as to how Children`s Homes/Services can/should be developed and in which geographic areas
