About The Facility
Located in the heart of London's esteemed medical district, the newly-refurbished Princess Grace Hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialities. Supported by world-class doctors from leading London teaching hospitals, the hospital has 129 beds, including a purpose-built intensive care unit, catering for Level 3 patients. Our eight fully-equipped theatres include three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery and a robotic surgery suite along with some of the most advanced radiological diagnostic facilities in the country.
Our Catering department is a small well knitted team of 10 chefs that deliver food of the highest quality for patients, staff, consultants and functions. All food is prepared from fresh produce and covers a variety of cuisines to match the diversity of our patients and work force.

As the Commis Chef you will be on the first rung of the ladder to becoming a great chef. Initially concentrating on cold section (Salads & sandwich), you will produce high quality food preparation work, then under the supervision of a Chef De Partie and you will then be trained up through other sections such as sauce, vegetables, fish and butchery, which will give you a great foundation to develop your skills and career.
Salary: £17,409 - £18,952
Hours: 37.5 per week (shifts 6am-2pm & 1pm-9pm covering 7 days a week)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Follow a food production sheet and prepare items to a consist and high quality standard and working under supervision, preparing more complex items
- Assisting senior chefs in the serving of food
- Maintain high standards of kitchen and personal hygiene
- Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation
Skills & Experience
- NVQ level 2 in catering and/or hospitality
- Previous kitchen experience gained within a hotel/hospitality environment
- Understanding of basic food safety/hygiene regulations
- Excellent attention to detail
