Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Landscape Architect: Play and Open Space on a 3 month contract, with a possibility of an extension. They would like someone who has the experience and knowledge in the following:

* To assist in the provision of a cost effective, proactive and responsive landscape and regeneration service to the Council.
* To work with the local community, local members, council colleagues and other organisations to programme, plan, develop and implement play and open space schemes on behalf of the council.
* To advise on the landscape and play aspects of planning applications and forward planning matters.
* To design and implement landscape, environmental improvement and small scale regeneration schemes for the council.
* To assist in the development of council strategies and regeneration projects, including the preparation of exhibition and presentation material.
* To lead on the development and implementation of play area, open space and landscape improvement schemes on behalf of the council using the preferred procurement method (which may include framework agreement and bespoke contract documentation as required). To include consultation with relevant consultees and the production of designs, contract documentation and procurement of projects, and administrative and cost control aspects of all contracts and orders.
* To ensure that service delivery complies with current regulations, accepted professional standards, the council's policies and procedures and appropriate legislation (including legislation on data protection, equalities, health and safety and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults)'.
* To coordinate the consultation process on each scheme, in liaison with colleagues where necessary, including the production of all exhibition material and attendance at public meetings.
* To prepare briefs for the engagement of consultants for landscape, play, and open space improvement schemes.
* To give advice on the landscape and play aspects of planning applications and forward planning matters, appearing as a professional witness at Information Hearings and Planning Appeals where required.
* Monitor and review the performance of landscape and play contractors.
* To assist in the development of major strategies and regeneration projects, and to participate in corporate initiatives, council projects and working groups, leading to the implementation of departmental and corporate decisions.

Essential:

* Competent in the use of MS Office packages including Word, Outlook and Excel. Experience in using AutoCAD for producing schemes.
* Current driving licence, use of car.
* Regular site visits.
* Attendance at some evening and weekend meetings.
