IT Support Engineer - up to £27k per annual - Central Reading, Berkshire

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join one of our key clients based out of the headquarters in central Reading. As the IT Support Engineer you will work within the technical team responsible for delivering on the businesses 1st and 2nd line requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

* Review, categorise and prioritise unassigned helpdesk calls
* Ensure there is user acceptance before any helpdesk call is closed
* Resolve and close helpdesk calls on a priority and longest open basis
* Ensure there is a helpdesk call for every problem that is being diagnosed and solved
* Assist other IT Support Consultants with their helpdesk calls where possible
* Maintain helpdesk service levels defined in the helpdesk methodology
* Escalate problems as soon as possible once it has been determined more assistance is required
* Complete the PC checklist, user acceptance forms and any other related documentation for all new equipment
* Ensure a successful data backup infrastructure in all offices
* Support and maintain the IT infrastructure (servers, network and email etc.) and propose upgrades/replacements to Head of IT to maintain a resilient and high performing infrastructure

* Maintain existing infrastructure documentation to ensure knowledge is transferred among the team and to keep fast response times
* Utilising all documentation, assist in maintaining and testing the Business Continuity Plan
* Design and implement new or replacement infrastructure that is scalable, resilient and secure
* Ensure that archiving and retrieval are secure and robust processes and systems

Essential Skills

* Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical staff can comprehend
* Competent in diagnosing complex issues on desktop and server operating systems
* Experience in supporting Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012
* 2-3 years' experience

* MCTS Windows 7 or 10
* MCTS Windows Server 2008 or 2012
* ITIL / SDA awareness/skills
