DESCRIPTION

Our client, a fast-growing Data Centre and ISP operator are currently looking for a new Systems Administrator due to growth within the company. Reporting directly to the Head of Technical Operations and Development, the role involves supporting managed services customers, providing 3rd line technical support for the Support Team and continuing development of internal systems and software.

It is essential that the successful applicant communicates effectively with good interpersonal skills, is results orientated, methodical and focused. The role is at the main Data Centre facility in Byfleet (Surrey) and there will be some requirements to travel to their secondary data centre located in Manor Royal (Crawley) to support systems deployed there.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role will come with the following responsibilities:
- Internal systems support and administration
- Active Directory user management
- Out of hours’ escalation contact for internal systems and managed systems
- Documentation of configuration and installations
- Management of racks for internal systems
- Documentation, auditing and cable management
- Managed services provision and support on primarily Windows Server 2012 / 2016 and Hyper-V environments
- Windows Desktop and Server Patch Management (WSUS)
- Windows Desktop and Server Backup Management (Custom)
- Support the activities of the first and second line teams in the provision, decommission, support of dedicated servers, virtual machines and colocation.
- Support and training for the first and second line teams in areas of responsibility
- 3rd line support for colocation clients where needed (hardware, software, virtualization, etc)
- 3rd line support for public cloud virtual machines
- Management and support of the OnApp / KVM / CentOS based public cloud environment

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

The following experience and skills are required for the role:
- Microsoft Server Certification
- Microsoft Desktop Certification
- Experience working with Windows Server 2012 and 2016 with Hyper-V in high availability environments
- Experience working within a IT service provider or managed hosting provider
- Some exposure to Linux operating systems and basic Linux systems administration
