LV Authorised Person (DSEAR)

- £35,635 (LV AP with DSEAR)
- 26 days hols > Max 30 days
- 7.5% Bonus (60/40 company/individual)
- Pension scheme 7-14%

He needs one of the following;

Standard LV AP - This will be a lower salary than above

- Will authorise electrical FSEs (including Multi-skilled FSEs who need to be authorised every 3 years)
- Testing and inspection of panels etc
- PAT Testing on an industrial level
- Advise on electrical queries (i.e. which panels can go work with certain equipment)

LV AP with DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations)
- All of the above but need to be an expert on the above regulations (the regs require employers to control the risks to safety from fire and explosions)
- They will advise on which equipment can work on sites to avoid an explosive atmosphere

Job Purpose
Provide electrical and DSEAR specialist advice and guidance to field operations and engineering. Provide project support to DSEAR programmes of work for surveys, inspections and maintenance regimes as required by Process and Network Operations. Ensuring electrical compliance is reviewed and maintained within the wider business.
* Working with the Technical Assurance Team, who specialise in the delivery of a vital service to ensure the company meets its statutory obligations with the wiring Regs and particularly with Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations 2002 (DSEAR).
* Working within Water/Wastewater Process and Network your primary responsibilities will be to provide advice, guidance for the effective and efficient surveys, inspections and maintenance of electrical assets and with regard to meeting DSEAR 2002.
* The post holder will be an Electrical Engineer with a minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering and be capable of appraising proposed electrical designs, specialist knowledge of DSEAR and IET Regulations and have an awareness of wider strategic aims of United Utilities and developments in the Water Industry.
Knowledge and Skills
* The role holder shall be expected to hold the lead role within the team for specialist DSEAR knowledge, skills and experience and provide support and advice to the field on United Utilities Code of Practice for Installations in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres associated with Water and Wastewater (CoP).
* The role holder will also be expected to collate and manage Reports & Documentation and provide DSEAR advice and support to Water and Wastewater Process and Network, Process Alliance, Engineering and Competitive Tender departments with regard to provision of Zoning Drawings, and Classification of DSEAR areas on site.
* The candidate shall have an electrical engineering background with extensive experience and is expected to have a full understanding of the requirements for the survey, inspection, testing and maintenance of DSEAR related assets, United Utilities Electrical Safety Instructions and related IET Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS7671).
* Provide support and guidance on training requirements for United Utilities employees relating to DSEAR awareness, maintenance and inspection regimes. Training requirements are to meet DSEAR minimum standards with regard to frequency and refresher training needs to meet standards set out in regulations.
* To participate in and have the ability to write clear, concise and accurate engineering reports and specifications supporting background information, recommendations and solutions to DSEAR or Electrical related queries and incidents.
Desirable Criteria
* HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience of surveys, inspections and classification of DSEAR zoning requirements.
* Experience of inspection and testing of electrical equipment .
* Working knowledge of DSEAR 2002 and BS7671 IET Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS7671).
* IT Literate
* Full Driving Licence
