We have an exciting opportunity for Purchasing Administrator to work in Portsmouth. The company has a history of technological and scientific achievement. As a testament to their success, their systems are in place on the most technically advanced vessels in the world.

You must have previous experience in a customer facing environment, either over the phone or face to face and dealing with invoices.

The position is permanent. Full time.

Working hours are between 7:30am - 5:30pm (Monday to Thursday) and 7:30am - 1pm on a Friday.

Salary: £18,000 - £25,000

Responsibilities:

* Developing a key supplier base capable of supporting all business requirements for purchased components and services.
* Negotiating prices and building long term collaborative relationships which ensure continuity of supply.
* Ensuring price information is kept up to date.
* Placing orders and expediting goods and services, recording these on the system.
* Maintaining purchase order status and shipment tracking information to ensure on-time deliveries.
* Monitoring suppliers' performance, raising any concerns with suppliers.
* Expediting delivery of goods from suppliers, including reschedules, shortages and cancellations.
* Liaising with departments if deliveries of goods are delayed.
* Managing the return of defective goods.
* Completing special projects and assignments as requested.
* Assisting the Senior Buyer as required.

Essential requirements for this role:
* Some knowledge and understanding of supply chain concepts and how these are applied.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication (oral & written).
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
* An ability to react quickly to changing priorities.
* Some travel to other group offices or MoD sites in the UK may occasionally be required.
* Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
* Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level. To gain SC clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
