Our client provides national coverage for Highways and Rail Structural Inspection services and are widely recognised as a market leader. Having successfully secured several contracts for Principal Inspections, they are planning a new phase of expansion and as a result now require a Technical Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality of the tenders submitted for inspection work and for the quality of the inspections executed along with the associated reports.

This role has excellent promotion and career development prospects in addition to a competitive basic salary and remuneration package.


The Technical Manager will:

·Prepare tenders for significant inspection contracts, including both the written and commercial elements
·Prepare programmes for complex inspections, including site reconnaissance
·Train our inspectors in working to the latest standards
·Prepare inspection plans for significant structures and brief our site teams on the same
·Write the recommendations section of principal inspection reports
·Act as internal client in connection with inspection related IT projects, notably the programme for automating detailed inspections of rail structures
·Contribute to the strategic development of the business


·Chartered civil engineer (MICE or FICE) essential
·Bridge inspection experience preferred
·Bridge design and/or construction experience preferred
·Analytical and problem solving skills
·Bid writing and assembly skills
·Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead meetings and workshops
·Energetic and enthusiastic
·Experienced in using business software, including Word, Excel and PowerProject

The role will be based in Sheffield. Some travel to sites for reconnaissance, client meeting and advice to inspectors will be required.

Salary: £45,000+ per annum negotiable plus profit-related bonus plus car allowance / car.
