Providing advocacy and user involvement services across England, VoiceAbility is a growing organisation working with people who are vulnerable or marginalised to raise their voices and have their rights respected. 

Position: Advocate 
Location: Home based - Greenwich and Southend On Sea 
Job Type: Part Time, Permanent 
Hours: 7.5 hours per week 
Salary: £21,000 - £25,700 pro rata

About the role: 

This role is working in private healthcare provision specialising in work with learning disabled and autistic clients. 

The Advocate role is concerned with strengthening voices, championing rights and changing lives of people who may be marginalised or vulnerable. Jobholders would normally report to the Service Manager or Managing Advocate and would be responsible for providing a direct service to gain positive outcomes for people along with wider impacts. 

You will deliver a strong outcome focused service that achieves a high level of positive impact for service users and positively influence and build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders to ensure that impact is achieved for individuals / groups of people they work with both locally and nationally. 

The role involves providing technical and professional information to a range of stakeholders. Be responsible for a range of issues / activities requiring investigation to resolve. In this role you will contribute to technical planning and have an understanding of the implications of predicted developments within the business discipline. 

You will assist the Service Manager / Managing Advocate in developing new relationships and targeting specific work in support of their strategic plan and implement opportunities for innovation, which leads to improved service and performance. 

About you: 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting people to ensure equality and respect and have a background or understanding of advocacy and experience and / or knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act alongside local and national safeguarding policies and practice. 

You may have previous experience of Advocacy accompanied with Charity and Third Sector experience. If you have knowledge of the Action for Advocacy Code of Practice, Advocacy Code of Practice it would be advantageous. 

You may have experience of the following: Advocate, NHS, Vulnerable Adults, IAQ, Charity, Third Sector, Social Worker, IMCA, DOLS, RPR, Legislation, Policy, Support Worker, Healthcare etc.
